FEMALE ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS 4 REALITY (F.E.A.R.): Rape:Safe
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our 'RapeSafe' sub-module is primarily a practical session that details various avoidance strategies and or escapes from precarious positions. All our instructors are trained in delivering the practical session and draw on their own individual expertise in teaching the various areas from our practical programme to provide effective and efficient techniques- anti-grappling methods and strikes.
Accurate and concise advice in this section is provided in the form of drills that can be practiced with a partner during the session. These may come in the form of group or partner role-play but usually end with physical/practical escapes. However, over the years we have found that not all establishments wish to run practical sessions during their work and would rather be taught from a theorised stand point, whilst the Self-protection Network appreciates this it must be understood that all the theory in the world does not provide the same end result as repetition of technique and constant drilling of motor programmes for the brain to learn.
However, the beauty of our 'RapeSafe' course is its ability to be delivered as a theory session as well as a practical and indeed combined. Through a theory-based session statistics will be drawn on and case studies will act as a base for other issues such as rapist profiling and the psychological make-up of many attackers. General advice on noticing patterns of behaviour, attitudes and cognitive functioning is stressed and information will be drawn from our other programmes of work (E.A.S.Y. and F.E.A.R. sub-modules).
