FEMALE ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS 4 REALITY (F.E.A.R.): Home:Safe Various studies derived from nationwide survey's and or victim interviews have demonstrated that we as individuals are just as at risk whilst in the vicinity of our local environment or our home as we are whilst travelling to and from less familiar places. Incident after incident of physical assault, street robbers, wounding and murders quantify this statement and you only have to look back at recent examples involving Sally-Ann Bowmen, Anthony Walker, Holly Wells & Jessica Chapman, Abigail Witchell and Marsha McDonnell to understand the point we make- complete forethought and protection is not always possible but vigilance and awareness is needed 100% of the time. Nevertheless, there is still a huge problem in terms of personal safety whilst travelling. This module, whilst interconnected with our Road Rage sub-module, offers the attendees some invaluable advice of travelling and personal safety at such a time. Issues of unlicensed taxicabs, night buses and the underground are all covered, as are the broader issues of target hardening, awareness, anticipation and avoidance. As with all our F.E.A.R. sub-modules our 'Self-protection whilst travelling' module creates its own justification and has proved to be a great adjunct our 'Self-protection for Students' sub-module. |
